LATEST AMERICAN MAV PRESIDENTIAL POWER RANKINGS

Lots of candidates decided to jump into the race over the past week.  Several Republicans and one Democrat.  All that activity jostled the latest American Mav Presidential Power Rankings.

The American Maverick will provide periodic updates of how candidates are performing for their respective party nomination.  Candidates that have declared will have greater weighting.  Because you have to be in it, to win it.  All rankings consider how candidates jockey for attention, handle media stress and overall how they keep their message and candidacy at the forefront of American voters.

American Mav Power Rankings as of May 6, 2015:

AMERICAN MAVERICK PRESIDENTIAL POWER RANKINGS

Republicans:  Three candidates jumped into the race for the GOP.  Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina and Mike "Common Core" Huckabee.  All three are very weak with cash flow and organization in battleground states.  Carly is interesting.  She has been the best Hillary attacker of any candidate since her Iowa speech in January.  Ben Carson has a following among conservatives.  However, his meek nature and lack of comfort with hardball media questions continues to cause problems.  Huckabee honestly doesn't have a prayer.  Although Iowa likes him, his evangelic message will not fly in New Hampshire.  His Arkansas record as a big government spender and strong advocate of Common Core is catching up with him.

Still no sign of Jeb "Amnesty" Bush.  Scott Walker moves up. And Rand Paul pulls back a little.

Rank     Republican Candidate
   1        Marco Rubio      +1
   2        Scott Walker     +3
   3        Rand Paul          -2
   4        Jeb Bush             --
   5        Ted Cruz            -2
   6        Carly Fiorina      --
   7        Ben Carson        New
   8        Rick Perry           --
   9        Mike Huckabee  New

The rest of the GOP hopefuls:  Bobby Jindal, Chris Christie, and Rick Santorum.

Democrats:  Self declared socialist, Bernie Sanders announced he's running.  He will be an absolute thorn in the side of Hillary.  He will call her out for her scams and political folly.  No, Bernie doesn't have a chance.  But, at this point its Hill and Bernie.  When the Dem debates start up, Bernie will not hold back on the Clinton record.  Interesting news about Elizabeth Warren.  She had a closed door meeting with the organization attempting to back her candidacy and major donors recently.  We will see what the wicked witch of Massachusetts will do. And, finally, hardly a significant word or media coverage of any of the other Dems.  (BOLD= declared candidate)

Rank     Democrat Candidate
   1        Hillary Clinton       --
   2        Elizabeth Warren    --
   3        Martin O'Malley      +1
   4        Bernie Sanders      New
   5        Jim Webb              -2
   6        Joe Biden              -1
   7        John Kerry             -1
