The debate over Medicaid expansion continues in Virginia. With Governor McAuliffe, the Democrats and the Republicans at loggerheads over the budget and expansion, the public is craving resolution.
Republicans in the General Assembly, especially the House of Delegates, are standing firm to pass a budget without Medicaid expansion. Many on the right prefer the current Medicaid system be audited and assure reforms are in place before considering such a drastic expansion of Medicaid.
As legislators return to their districts, constituents would like answers about expansion and about the status of the budget. Several Delegates and Senators are participating in town halls to provide updates about Medicaid and the budget process.
One major town hall event will occur in Charlottesville on Monday, April 21st. Americans for Prosperity is hosting a public town hall to discuss Medicaid expansion. Virginia Delegates Rob Bell and Steve Landes will be there to provide information and interact with the public.
