With a gathering of over 1,500 supporters and party backers, Majority Leader Eric Cantor hosts his annual breakfast in Richmond. His guest was none other than Budget Chairman and former Vice-Presidential candidate, Congressman Paul Ryan.
Congressman Cantor spoke first to kick-off the event. His message focused on the need to oppose the left on many fronts.
He talked about how Obamacare was impacting our country and the Commonwealth. He specifically mentioned how Virginia needed to oppose expanding Medicaid due to "Affordable" Care Act mandates and financial impact to Virginia taxpayers.
Featured guest, Congressman Paul Ryan, talked about partisanship on Capitol Hill and how party unity is key to victory this November.
Ryan talked about how Republicans need to the party of solutions, and not solely the party of opposition. He spoke how conservative policies are winners for America's economy, health care and energy.
Congressman Ryan stated how important this November was for our country. He said taking control of the U.S. Senate was paramount for Republicans. With Republicans taking the Senate, the House will be able to advance positive legislation to improve the economy, control spending and other key issues.
Ryan talked about how Republicans need to pull together for victory. He mentioned how Republicans can work together and seek to unify behind a strong economic and growth message to help candidates such as Ed Gillespie triumph over Senate Democrat Mark Warner.
Both Cantor and Ryan spoke favorably for Ed Gillespie's Senate campaign and for Delegate Barbara Comstock's campaign for Congress.
