Cumulus Radio Network announced a new deal that would boot Sean Hannity from their 3-6PM time slot and replace him with powerful talk radio host, Michael Savage. The change would occur at the end of 2013.
You have to have a little compassion for conservative talk host, Sean Hannity. He has gone through a lot of change on Fox News and now with his radio show. He has been a mainstay for conservative talk during the prized "drive time" radio time slot from 3-6PM Eastern.
On Fox News, Megyn Kelly will start on October 6, in Hannity's old 9:00PM time slot. Hannity will move into the 10:00PM slot with Greta Van Susteran moving to 7:00PM. This is the first shake-up of Fox News' prime time line-up in over 10 years.
Michael Savage brings a powerful voice to afternoon radio. Savage is quite outspoken versus the left and the establishment of the right. His current listener ratings are very strong and his following is quite loyal for his evening show. Question is how Savage will be received with the "drive time" audience.
Hannity's contract expires with Cumulus in December. Another radio network, Premiere Network, will be picking up Hannity's radio show and offering to stations in January, 2014. So, some stations may still carry Hannity in the afternoon, just on a different network.
