The Virginia Chapter of Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is ready to take its message to the Virginia Medicaid Commission this Monday, August 19th, in Richmond. AFP will be hosting a significant rally at the Capitol and will be bringing Virginians from all over the state to oppose the expansion of Medicaid. Over 600 AFP activists will be at the Capitol voicing their opinion to the commission.
The Commonwealth of Virginia will hold a second meeting of the Medicaid Innovation and Reform Commission (MIRC) on Monday. The commission was formed by the Virginia General Assembly to determine if Virginia should dramatically expand Medicaid. On Monday, Americans for Prosperity activists will be on the grounds of Virginia's Capitol to make their message loud and clear. Their message? To halt Medicaid expansion. The vice of Medicaid expansion would adversely impact the level and access of care for patients. Plus, the cost of the already financially troubled program would be a heavy burden for taxpayers.
Here's a statement by AFP Virginia State Director Dave Schwartz,
"Medicaid expansion, a key part of Obamacare in Virginia, will destroy the doctor patient relationship as we know it. Nearly one in four doctors already do not accept Medicaid patients. Expansion will hurt the folks who need the most help."
The "Rally Against Medicaid Expansion" will commence at noon at the Virginia State Capitol bell tower. Various speakers including AFP President Tim Phillips are to attend. After the rally, over 600 activists will be attending the public MIRC meeting at the General Assembly Building.
AFP is providing free round-trip bus transportation to all interested in participating in Monday's event in Richmond. Buses are originating from all regions of Virginia. If you would like to go, click this link to sign-up today>>> http://richmondrally.eventbrite.com/
