Hillary Clinton must be the queen of convenient excuses. Especially when it comes to her role as Secretary of State during the investigation of the tragic deaths on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
She's a dodger alright. When Congressional hearings were held to investigate the Benghazi attack in September, she was "too busy with international commitments." Additional requests for her to testify on Capitol Hill in October and November were met with stonewall responses from the State Department and White House that her schedule was in conflict. By the way, one of her "conflicts" was to attend a "official" event in Australia which turned out to be a vineyard tour with a wine tasting.
Point of clarity. Hillary Clinton is the Secretary of State. In her capacity, she is ultimately responsible for our diplomats and their safety while overseas. Numerous previous requests for increased security at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi were not approved by the Department of State. On September 11, 2012, four Americans including Ambassador Stevens were murdered in a terrorist assault at our Consulate. This was the first Ambassador killed since the Carter Administration.
Tell me why would Hillary Clinton dodge testifying about her involvement when her Ambassador and three other Americans were killed on her watch? Makes you wonder.
Just after the end of November, Hillary committed to testify before Congress about Benghazi on December 20.
Now, Hillary comes up with a real tall tale. You know, one of those Pinocchio nose stories. One of those fabled convenient excuses. So, hook up the truth detector and listen to this...
A statement was issued by the State Department earlier this week stating Hillary was under the weather and would have to cancel events. As of Thursday, she had not sought a medical appointment with a physician. On Friday, a statement was released by her staff that Hillary fainted and hit her head. The statement continued saying she had had a concussion. Did she go to a hospital or was she checked by a physician immediately after this collapse? No. When her staff was questioned about the seriousness of the concussion, her staff said it was "not too serious". But added she would not be able to testify about Benghazi as scheduled on Capitol Hill.
How utterly convenient. Another dodge. Another Obama administration official playing politics with the truth. Another Clinton circumventing the truth for political gain.
Hillary must be counting the days till her resignation becomes effective on January 20th. The day Obama kicks off another four years of Chicago style politics.
Only time will tell if the truth will reveal the role Hillary Clinton played in the downfall of the Consulate in Benghazi. The question remains if the tragedy of Benghazi will come back to haunt her in her quest for the Presidency in 2016.
