Republican candidate for President, Mitt Romney, lights up the room with laughter and gravitas at the famed Alfred E. Smith Memorial Dinner in New York City. Romney showed his humor and human side as President Barack Obama received a good dose of verbal jabs.

Mitt Romney was certainly the man of the evening in New York City. He clearly rolled over the attendees at the white tie event. Mitt fired off a string of well timed and hilarious one liners. The room was roaring from line to line as some were self-deprecating and others were launched straight at a smirking Barack Obama sitting on the side. Romney also ribbed the media as MSNBC's Chris Matthews and ABC's Katie Couric sat just behind the podium. Again, this was another solid opportunity for Romney to show his class, deftness and warm human appeal.
Obama also gave about a ten minute speech. However, Obama did rumble some laughs, he failed to capture the same level of audience laughter and approval as Mitt Romney. As Obama, delivered his lines, some fell flat. In one instance, he missed a punch line and laughed at it himself.
Ann Romney attended in a elegant, formal gown. Michelle Obama was not at the event. There was no mention of why Mrs. Obama was absent.
Preceding Romney's speech, dinner MC Alfred Smith, Jr., gave a quick couple of minutes to roast the candidates prior to their speeches. One of the best lines by Smith went a little like this... Mr. President, Mitt Romney has more sons than you have produced jobs.
This is the video of Mitt Romney's speech at the Alfred Smith Dinner. Obama's speech is not really worth your time. However, watching Mitt's comic relief is well worth ten minutes of your time. This really shows the lifting personality of Mitt. Click to enjoy! http://youtu.be/HJrDz99rURA
