This Saturday, Flint Engleman will be on-site for the first of four Virginia Republican candidate debates for the United States Senate nomination. The debate will begin at 3:00pm. The debate series is being sponsored by the Republican Party of Virginia.
Debate format is limited in format and access. The debate will only last for an hour. A Roanoke news anchor, Jay Warren, from WSLS will moderate the debate. Three additional panel members will pose questions for the candidates. Restrictions on the media prevent live telecast of the debate. So, unfortunately Maverick Media will not be able to debut our new USTREAM application for this event.
It will be interesting to see how all four GOP candidates interact live in a moderated debate format. The candidates include: George Allen, E.W. Jackson, Bob Marshall and Jamie Radtke. Each candidate is allowed to have a two minute introductory and closing statement.
Former Governor George Allen is considered the front runner for the Republican nomination. Allen's fundraising and campaign organization has outpaced all other GOP candidates. Major media outlets have yet to afford the other Republican candidates considerable attention. A recent Rasmussen poll shows George Allen with a slight lead over contentious Democrat Tim Kaine.
