What about the name, The American Maverick? It is purposeful.
American: reflecting our heritage, our traditions and the intent of the founders of the United States of America. Being patriotic is a part of the American way, yet being a patriot means standing your ground and being proactive to protect the American way of life and the hallmarks of our republic.
Maverick: I prefer the definition from Wiktionary: Maverick, “Showing independence of thought.” Another definition from the Urban Dictionary offers this definition, ‘Someone who refuses to play by the rules. He/she isn't scared to cross the line of conformity, but their unorthodox tactics get results!’ I am a straight shooter. I call it as I see it. If something needs to be said, it will be said. What you will see is my point of view from my political background and from my heart. All for the love of our country, Breaking news will have a response from this blog if it is of true substance. You will enjoy an edgy take on the politics of the day. I will provide clarity and a point of view to the newsworthy. One other point of deviation, I will occasionally pick up on the unusual news of the day, offering a different perspective to break through the stale media.
Who is this Maverick? I am Flint Engleman a grassroots leader in politics for over 30 years. I have been integral to campaigns in central Virginia, the Shenandoah Valley and West Virginia. My first exposure to politics was pulling the lever for my parents vote for President Ford. And, yes, my political nature is definitely to the right and never to the left.
Who is this Engleman character? Well, I’ve run for political office, held multiple officer positions with Republican units, have served as local campaign coordinator for Ronald Reagan, HW Bush, GW Bush, John Warner, George Allen and more. I look to our founders such as Washington, Franklin, Madison, Adams and Jefferson for wisdom. I look to modern day leaders, past and present, for inspiration, including: Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher and more. Historic heroes I keep close to my heart include: John Paul Jones, James Monroe, Patrick Henry, Stonewall Jackson, Douglas MacArthur, and our beloved military. I respect and love our American history. I especially enjoy the periods of the revolutionary war, the Civil War, the 1920’s and the 1980’s. I believe our country is approaching a period of great awakening as to the power and opportunity that our republic can fulfill.
How will The American Maverick operate? I am working hard to make this a full time commitment. I have strategic plans to develop this blog and expand our reach through the media and to the public. In the nature of a blog, my insights can be derived remotely. However, I do have plans to achieve press credentials to cover key political events live. A fair amount of my sourcing will be from electronic media both broadcast and other mediums. If I recognize a trend with factual basis, I will confirm and turn it back to you for your consideration.
I am a maverick, an outspoken individual from the right offering unique insight about the news and politics of the American experience. My comments will be from my head and my heart. And this is just the start.
